Presidency

Composition:

The Presidency is made up of the president and the vice-presidents.
The members of the presidency are nominated by the Pan African Council among the members of the Executive Committee who chair the five (5) subregions of the continent which are:

North Africa, West Africa, East Africa, Central Africa and Southern Africa.

The President is nominated by the Pan African Council among the members of the Presidency for a period of one year, which is renewable
Any loss of the mandate of mayor (executive or elected) and/or of president of national association of the representative of a member elected as UCLG AFRICA President or Vice President or on the Executive Committee shall ipso facto and without conditions, result in the immediate end of its function as the representative of the aforesaid member within the Presidency, and its automatic replacement by the new leader of the local government or the national association active member of the UCLG AFRICA.

If the office of the President becomes vacant, it shall be filled by a Vice President, elected as such by the Executive Committee, who shall hold office for the remainder of the term of office in question provided this is approved by the very next meeting of the Pan African Council.

* The Presidency is the principal political representative of the UCLGA and shall represent the organization at functions, meetings and events to which it is invited.

* The President and or the members of the Presidency, shall exercise such additional powers as may be delegated to them generally or specifically by the Executive Committee.
